Participation Guidelines and Requirements for
Student Community Service/Civic Engagement Teams
Goals
- Enhancing lives of the served and the servers.
- Encourage students to apply values of service and civic engagement throughout their lives.
- Stimulate and reinforce students' interest and participation in their academic work.
Projects
- Projects May be conducted by student teams or an individual student.
- Projects Must be conducted with the official oversight of one or more of the following: school administrator, teacher, school counselor, school club advisor.
- The Number of projects from each school TBD by each school. Schools are encouraged to create and conduct as many community service projects as interest, time, and logistics permit.

- Create an account. Fill out the application. If you're done, hit "submit" OR, you may hit "save and return" if you need to pause your work and come back to it later.

Complete a separate PROJECT PLAN for each community service project.
- Note: immediately upon submitting the PROJECT PLAN the submitter and the SSASP Coordinator will receive emails with a copy of the completed PLAN. Please keep your email for future reference.
- Print copies of the completed PROJECT PLAN and distribute it to student team members and others as you choose.
- We encourage one or several students to complete the PROJECT PLAN with a review by the project advisor before submission. Use this submission as one of many ways to practice business-like thinking and writing skills.

AGENDA
11:00 a.m. Preparation - Students arrive and set up their community service project boards.
11:10 a.m. Exhibition of Community Service Projects - Attendees view the project displays from each middle school and engage students in conversations about project goals, project activities, results, and personal learning through community-service involvement.
11:40 a.m. Recognition Luncheon - Community and CCS leaders commend the students’ efforts and results. Recognition of corporate and individual financial supporters.
12:00 p.m. Student Presentations and Certificates - Each student team makes a presentation from the podium about its community service project.
12:40 p.m. Surprise Group Activity
12:45 p.m. Student Presentations and Certificates - Completion of student community service teams' presentations.
1:25 p.m. Closing / Adjourn
Participation
- Three students and one faculty advisors from each community service team and principals.
- CCS Board of Education members and administrations
- Representatives from community organizations that collaborated with one of more student community service teams.
- Rotarians and various other community leaders.
- Representatives from corporate financial supporters and individuals' financial supporters.
Purposes
- Provide a showcase for community service projects conducted by student teams from all Columbus City Schools' (CCS) middle schools.
- Honor all projects, and select three projects to participate in the 2021 High School Fair, May 3, 2021, Archie Griffin Ballroom in the OSU Student Union
- Recognize CCS faculty members who served as community service project advisors.
- Salute corporate and individual financial supporters and community organization partners.
